Testing of Isograph Reliability software using virtualized solutions on Apple computers was conducted recently.
Using both Bootcamp and VMWare Fusion, all products were able to be installed and operate successfully.
Systems tested
Apple iMac – 2008 Edition – OSX 10.4 – 2gig ram – Core 2 Duo/2.4GHz Apple Macbook Pro – 2009 Edition – OSX 10.6 - 8 gig ram – Core 2 Duo/2.4GHz
Virtualization software used
Apple iMac – VMWare Fusion 2 Apple Macbook Pro – Bootcamp & VMWare Fusion2
Windows XP Professional with SP2 was used in all virtualised environments
Isograph Products tested
Note:
Whilst test results do not cover all operating environments for the products sufficient information was gathered that would indicate that any issues would be standard known bugs with the Windows operating system
1.Availability Workbench
Server Client (Licence obtained from central server)Test was conducted on Apple Imac running with VMWare Fusion and Windows XP. Computer was able to see server computer through local network.
No issues were found with standard installation instructions.
Standalone InstallationTest was conducted on Macbook Pro using Bootcamp as well as VMWare Fusion2. Licencing of product was done through web activation with port 80 open to contact licence server.
No issues were found with standard installation instructions
2. FaultTree+
Standalone InstallationTest was conducted on Macbook Pro running VMWare Fusion
Licencing was done with the unlockit method and program was successfully operating.
Issues found with the use of the readme/licence file to licence the product. There were issues with the HOSTID of the computer changing which may have been caused by VMWare. Upon use of the Unlockit method (bypassing the use of HOSTID) FaultTree+ was able to operate successfully as a standalone installation.
3. HAZOP+
Standalone InstallationTest was conducted on Macbook Pro in Bootcamp and VMWare Fusion2.
